As we approach the end of term, Year 2 are continuing their focus on various Mighty Girls by learning about Grace Darling and Mary Anning.
As part of the topic in English, each class wrote a collaborative poem describing the seaside. The girls were very inspired to apply all we have learned about adjectives and used their senses and imaginative ideas to write their own descriptive poems.
They also identified coastal towns in the UK and marked these on maps, comparing seaside holidays of the past with the present and identifying things that have remained unchanged.
With Grace Darling famously living in a lighthouse, the girls made long and thin lighthouse paintings showing fine weather and also the sort of stormy conditions the brave Mighty Girl had to overcome whilst saving so many lives.
The amazing fossil hunter Mary Anning discovered on the first fossilised dinosaurs. The girls learnt alot about what fossils are by making their salt-dough ammonite and fossil sculptures.
