The Senior School Curriculum
At Blackheath High School, we are proud to have ambitious academic aims for each one of our students and we provide a rich curriculum to enable her to thrive in every aspect of her education at school.
In Years 7 to 9 - the emphasis is on breadth with an element of choice, giving students the opportunity to explore new subjects they have not learned before. The core STEM subjects are taught alongside creative, physical, and linguistic subjects, including options such as Mandarin, Latin and Computer Science.
In addition to their GCSE option subjects, some students who are highly successful at managing their workload and co-curricular commitments may want to stretch and challenge themselves further by opting to study an additional subject such as GCSE Astronomy at the nearby Royal Observatory, Classical Greek, GCSE Statistics, GCSE Further Mathematics and GCSE Psychology to extend their love of learning.
All students follow a programme of PSHE, Enrichment, Futures and Physical Education, encouraging life-long healthy habits. PSHE topics cover everything from relationships, to careers, to body image. Enrichment involves engaging with our local community such as cooking meals in our very own school cookery room and providing meals to the Lewisham Donation Hub. Our Futures programme equips the girls with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the world beyond school. Sport options change seasonally and include Netball, Hockey, Tennis and Cricket.
