To say we have a truly special community at Blackheath High School does not do justice to our students, staff, parents, and all who contribute to making our school the lively, inspirational hub that it is. As you walk through the doors and enter our incredibly light, open and invigorating space, you cannot help being swept up by our ethos of ‘Learning Without Limits’ and feel the presence of the pioneering Girls’ Day School Trust. Every day I look forward to walking into the building and leave feeling proud of our girls and what they achieve; every single day, without fail.
Our mission is to inspire our students to have confidence in their own academic pursuits, however diverse. Our interactive teaching style, collaborative environment and state-of-the-art facilities create a space where students can experiment with their interests and truly find their passions in life. We were also recently shortlisted for Independent Girls' School of the Year, in recognition of our commitment to creating an education and an environment designed for girls. Find our more about the prestigious awards programme.
Every day I am proud to see students throw themselves into both the school’s academic and co-curricular offerings. Their enthusiasm for their work is reflected in their excellent public examination results, that continue on an upward trajectory smashing national expectations year on year. All of this is combined with their impressive achievements outside the classroom. We are constantly celebrating differences in our school, and it is amazing to see how committed our students are to learning from each other, as well as from their teachers. As part of our goal to encourage students to follow their own interests, we offer a tailor-made education including a diverse range of subjects. Whether their interests are computer science, art, weightlifting - or all three - girls at Blackheath High School will always find their space to shine.
We foster an environment where students can immerse themselves fully in school life, and contribute to the close-knit community around them with the support of our remarkable teachers. I would advise anyone interested in finding out more about our former students to take a look at our alumnae pages. These give a flavour of the kind of bright, bold and passionate individuals Blackheath High School produces. Most importantly, it shows a huge diversity in what they have chosen to go on and do; a diversity we are particularly proud of.
Additionally, we are proud to be supported by a wonderful parents' association. The BHSA raises money for facilities and experiences that benefit our girls, all while providing opportunities for parents, teachers and the school community to socialise.
There is no better way to experience our vivacity and spirit than to come and visit our school in person. Please do come and see us to capture the essence of Blackheath High School, meet some of our students and see for yourself why the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) recently awarded us ‘excellent in all areas’ - the best rating possible. You can book online to attend one of our forthcoming open events, or arrange a personal visit.
I look forward to meeting you.
