The Pastoral Team
Pastoral care underpins everything that we do. The Pastoral Team work cohesively to support all students from the Junior School through to the Sixth Form.
The Pastoral Team is overseen by Mrs Leamon - Deputy Head (Wellbeing). Mrs Leamon takes a strategic overview of the whole school, line manages the Pastoral Team, and sets the priorities for the year ahead."My aim is that every student feels happy and secure, with a focus on their physical and mental wellbeing."
The team is comprised of Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Form Tutors, Heads of Year, our School Nurse, Healthcare Assistant and First Aiders, the SENDCO Team, the Head of Wellbeing, and our School Counsellor, who all work together to put our students at the centre of all we do.
We pride ourselves on knowing each and every student, allowing us to treat them as individuals. Ensuring that students are happy and healthy – in body and in mind – helps them to achieve their full potential and allows for a more enjoyable and productive academic journey.
We involve our students in the Pastoral Team too, with a large and thriving group of Peer Mentors. These students go through a rigorous selection programme and Childline-Accredited Training to become a friendly point of contact; whether it is a school-related concern such as struggling with homework or time management, or something more personal. We also provide Year 7 students with a buddy from Year 8, who can help them navigate the transition from Junior to Senior School. In the Junior School, the Buddy Group system also enables close bonds across year groups, and provides younger pupils with older and wiser role models to talk to.
