Calling all festive families!
Join us on Monday 16 December at Blackheath High School for a musical storytelling adventure for little ones aged 0-5, as we help Rudolph the Reindeer use that magical red nose to save Christmas.
Little ones can try out instruments, dance, sing, get involved or just listen. Refreshments and cake provided, fancy dress welcome.
The Wollstonecraft Speaker Series, named after writer, philosopher and women’s right advocate Mary Wollstonecraft, is a Futures programme for Blackheath High Senior School students. Speakers from a wide range of backgrounds join us to stimulate intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, and to help students develop the skills they will need for whatever their future holds.
The Wollstonecraft Late Series invites local experts in to explore and share their own passions with our wider community. For the last few years, we have partnered with renowned historical group the Blackheath Society, using their expertise and connections to host some fascinating talks – including on Blackheath High alumna and fashion icon Mary Quant; the enigmatic Mary Evans Picture Library; and the incredible work of local artist and alumna Jean Cooke RA.
Join us for our next event: The architectural embroidery of Teresa Forrest, Tuesday 14 January 2025
A pioneering architect, after retirement Teresa became a prolific embroiderer, using the beauty of urban streets and cityscapes to influence her intricate, detailed work. She is also the founder of the Lucy Forrest Scholarship, created to honour her daughter and Blackheath High student, Lucy whose bright future was tragically cut short in 1985. More than 75 Sixth Form students have since benefitted from a scholarship that allows them to discover their passions and find their future paths.
Join us for a fascinating talk by architect Ana Sutherland on Teresa Forrest’s embroidery work, the interplay between architecture and art, and the journey Teresa went on to find peace after her daughter’s death.
Sign up to our next Wollstonecraft Lates, Blackheath High Junior School, Wemyss Road, 7pm.
