I was so proud of our Year 11 students who went to sing Christmas carols at Westcombe Park House on 18 December 2017. They were friendly hosts to the residents and performed impressively, singing with an exuberance and warmth that filled the residents with joy. The residents enjoyed singing along to the familiar songs.
Special highlights were the pieces played on the violin by Emily and Pascale. The residents were moved by the beautiful sound of the violin but also by the passion of the performers. The individual performance by Rebecca was the most memorable and the residents were very complimentary about her talents as a singer.
My thanks to Ms Smith, who prepared the music group for the event and accompanied them on the piano. The students were a credit to Blackheath High for their performance and maturity while interacting with the residents. Well done all for making the visit such a success!
Blackheath High School is an independent school in Greenwich, teaching girls aged 3-18.
