Recently, Blackheath High School was thrilled to participate in the very first Undivided Student Council zoom meeting. All GDST schools were represented and there was a real buzz of excitement as all the Junior schools joined the zoom meeting one by one.
The morning began with a welcome message from Cheryl Giovannoni, Chief Executive of the GDST. Everyone was introduced to the finalised GDST Charter for Action, which all the schools had contributed to.
The next part of the meeting was really exciting. Each school was given an opportunity to talk about one Undivided initiative, Blackheath High was the first of the schools to share their work. Mimo and Ellie from Year 6 spoke very confidently and passionately about our Art Project, inspired by the work of a local artist, Yinka Shonibare. You may well have seen an aspect of his work, the wonderful ‘Ship in a Bottle’ sculpture, which is a permanent art work at the bottom of Greenwich Park by the Old Royal Naval College.
It was a wonderful opportunity for us all to share ideas, learn from each other and be inspired. Most importantly it gave everyone a chance to share the exceptional work that is happening in our schools as part of the GDST Undivided commitment.
