Tell us about yourself.
I am the Junior School Administrator although I would say this title probably does not reflect all that the job involves! My role is to oversee the admissions to the Junior School from nursery entry through to Year 6. Along with a very capable school office team which includes Ms McCully, Mrs Scarce and Mrs Welsh, I ensure a positive welcome to all visitors to the school.
How long have you worked at Blackheath High School?
I have been at Blackheath High School since March 1998. Previous to this job, I was at home with my two sons until they reached secondary school age. My first job when leaving school was at an international bank, I then went on to secretarial roles in London.
What do you like most about your job?
I love the variety of my role, no two days are the same. Working in such a wonderful building that has housed a school since 1880 is a real privilege.
What makes working here at Blackheath High School so rewarding and enjoyable?
The Junior School is a wonderful, vibrant and exciting environment. The girls are delightful and their enthusiasm in everything they do is contagious.
What has been your biggest achievement at Blackheath High School?
Since I joined the Junior School we have introduced breakfast club, after school care and opened our nursery.
What has been your biggest challenge at Blackheath High School?
The biggest challenge was when we opened our nursery. We took over the Paragon nursery which was housed in the two buildings next to the school. There was a very tight turnaround when the Paragon nursery moved out and we even inherited a couple of boys for a short time!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy travel, reading and I play badminton.
Tell me something surprising about yourself.
After leaving school, I travelled extensively and spent time on a Kibbutz where one of my jobs was working in banana fields.
