This year's fashion show was another absolute triumph. Titled 'Utopian Beauty', the edgier vibe of this year's event saw some incredibly innovative collections from our Sixth Form and lower school students. From the beautifully printed garments of Honor and Alex who had explored the theme of Urban Structures, to the fabulous handwoven coat by Eve as part of her Architectural Nomads collection, our Year 12 Sixth Form students certainly set the bar very high.
The Year 11 GCSE students, as usual, dazzled with their array of garments which saw fabulous screen printing and embroidered embellishments on their 'Flora & Fauna' inspired pieces. Other lower school successes included the Fashion Society who created a dark collection of garments that explored the notion of subversive female fictional characters, and Saffron who designed and made a fantastic collection inspired by the fashions of the noughties.
Year 13 students Ella and Isabel's joint collection mixed playful garment shapes with striking digital prints and laser cut embellishments, whilst Sam's solo collection impressed with a cohesive range of garments that pushed the boundaries of printed surfaces with sumptuous fabrics and silhouettes.
Performers Tallulah and Rei Lin demonstrated what incredible diversity of talent we have here at Blackheath High School with a spine-tingling version of Rihanna's 'Diamonds' and an awe-inspiring rendition on piano of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Maddie's New York trip film and and Phoebe's EPQ video displayed our student’s brilliance with technical wizardry too.
Closing the show with a brilliant accompanying video was Serafina's catwalk showcasing a sophisticated collection that drew inspiration from the colours and textures of underwater worlds.
Fashion Society members Sam, Ella and Isabel should be congratulated for the fantastic job they did in helping to coordinate the event, with special mention to Serafina who was instrumental in overseeing and organising the whole show with the Art Department.
