Celebrating the Year of the Snake in Mandarin
Lunar New Year 2025, also known as the Spring Festival, begun on January 29, 2025, marking the start of the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese zodiac. It is the most important traditional festival in China, celebrated with family reunions, feasts, red decorations, fireworks, and cultural performances.
Our Year 8 Mandarin students participated in a captivating Chinese fan dance workshop, which they proudly showcased at our school assembly. They also delighted the audience by reading a poem, performing a tongue twister, and singing a Chinese New Year song. Meanwhile, our Year 10 Mandarin students had an enriching visit to the British Museum to explore the special exhibition "The Silk Road." This was followed by a trip to Chinatown, where they enjoyed shopping and savoured delicious Chinese dim sum at a local restaurant.
These activities not only celebrate the festive spirit of the season but also provide our students with a deeper appreciation for Chinese culture and traditions.
