This term our Sixth Form Biology class went international and co-ed for the day. We were delighted to host Belgian Sixth Form Biotech & Chemistry students from the Sint Ursula Instituut, known informally as ‘the Hogwarts of Flanders’!
Integrating with one of our Sixth Form Biotech classes, our newly formed class grouped together to undertake experiments on using immobilised enzymes to remove lactose from milk – making it safe for cats and humans!
As well as experiencing how Biotech & Chemistry is delivered in the UK (in Belgium Sixth Formers study a range of subjects under a Baccalaureate style curriculum), the group had a full itinerary of visiting London’s big attractions including the London Dungeon and a Jack the Ripper tour. It was a great experience for students and teachers from both schools to integrate with an international school and see how our Sciences are taught in both countries.
