Sixth Form games have been particularly special this half term, with some beautiful fresh mornings doing water sports on the river. See one of our early morning snaps in the gallery below.
Netball
A large group of Year 4 girls took part in their first netball match of the season against Streatham & Clapham High. The girls were both excited and nervous for their first match, but overcame their nerves and played an excellent match. No scores were recorded, but it was a fantastic season opener and a great opportunity for the team to work on their teamwork, communication, as well as their attacking and defending skills. The players of the match, as chosen by the other team, were Ellie K, Isobel, Lily, Yasmine, Reeva, and Freyja.
An exciting fixture with Blackheath Prep: Year 4 A-C netball teams walked over to Blackheath Prep to play their second match of the season. The girls were eager to showcase their skills, especially after their first game didn’t go as planned. They took on board the feedback from their previous match and didn't disappoint—demonstrating excellent skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the game. The final scores were the C team lost 2-0, the B team won 2-0, and the A team also secured a 2-0 victory. Overall, it was a fantastic set of games, showcasing great effort and teamwork from all the players. The players of the match, as chosen by Blackheath Prep, were Ellie K, Aurora TT, and Maya L. Well done to everyone!
On Wed 2 Oct, our Year 6 netball teams took on Sydenham High School in a challenging set of matches. Despite the rain, the girls showed great resilience and pushed through. It was a tough opener for the season, with some strong netball played, but not all the results went our way.
The final scores were:
A team: 5-3 Loss (Player of the Match: Izzy)
B team: 3-1 Loss (Player of the Match: Damla)
C team: 4-2 Win (Player of the Match: Isabelle)
D team: 3-0 Loss (Player of the Match: Margot)
Cross-country
Some of our Year 3-6 girls participated in a cross-country competition against Croydon High. Despite setbacks in the journey there, they all persevered and took part in the interschool cross-country run. In Year 6, the top three finishers were Darcy, Izzy, and Emerson. In Year 5, it was Eloisa, Duru, and Phoebe. For Year 4, Ellie K, Isobel, and Molly led the way. And in Year 3, Sylvie, Maddie, and Olivia S were the top runners. Congratulations to all the girls.
Year 5 and Year 6 competed in a cross-country event against The Pointer School and Blackheath Prep. It was a tough long-distance run, with Year 5 running 1,500m and Year 6 running 1,800m—quite the distance! Despite the challenge, our girls performed brilliantly, showing great determination and, most importantly, incredible support for one another throughout the race. A special shoutout goes to Eloisa in Year 5 and Darcy in Year 6, who both finished 2nd in their respective races. Well done to everyone who took part!
