The Big Sow at Forest School

At the start of May, Early Years pupils took part in the Royal Horticultural Society’s initiative ‘The Big Seed Sow’, where schools, allotments, community groups and gardeners across the country planted a selection of wildflower seeds over a two-week period.

In their Forest School sessions, pupils learnt about the importance of pollinators, and everyone lent a hand to plant some seeds to encourage more wildlife to visit Forest School. We planted a mixture of native species as recommended by the RHS in plant pots in our wildflower garden and even in home-made satsuma skin pots!

Everyone will watch and tend them carefully over the next few weeks – waiting first for them to germinate, grow shoots and then flower.
