The GDST is delighted to announce the launch of the second cohort of the bespoke Sixth Form Maths Programme, designed to stretch and challenge students studying Pure Maths. Four Blackheath High School students - Kani, Anjy, Maddie and Tarika - have embarked on the Programme. The course is run by Mathematician Gill Brackenbury via Google Classrooms, and is designed to boost performance in the Pure Maths elements of the November University Entrance Examinations for competitive universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
The programme was born out of collaboration efforts of our GDST Heads of Maths community, identifying a common need and designing a solution to give students the opportunity to join a network of like-minded GDST Sixth formers across our family of schools.
In January, all our Year 9-11 students participated in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, with a further eight students selected from Years 7 and 8. UKMT designed this 60-minute, multiple choice challenge to encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency. Congratulations to everyone who took part - it takes a lot of resilience & determination to complete the challenges, and we’re hopeful certificates will be coming your way.

Congratulations to all Senior School students who received their Maths SPARX certificates this week. So many thriving mathematicians to mention, but you know who you are! Well done for all your hard work this half term.
