Our awesome BHSA has been running a host of Christmas events in the run up to end of term: the inaugural Christmas Joy Swap, their annual sale of the most beautiful Christmas trees, a festive tree decorating session, and, of course, the hugely popular wreath-making evening.
For the Christmas Joy Swap the BHSA took over the Rainbow Hall at Junior School for a festival of sustainable, festive gifting. Students and siblings were treated to a delicious hot chocolate while perusing tables laden with incredible donations - puzzles, traditional games, reading books and rails of excellent fancy-dress costumes and Christmas jumpers. Everyone left with a bag full of fantastic swag! We were thrilled to see so many families participating in this event, and we cannot thank parents and carers enough for the high-quality, desirable donations!
Pupils were very excited to join our parent volunteers and watch the school Christmas tree get ‘dressed’ - sorry that all those offers of help from pupils had to be declined on “Elf & Safety” grounds! The first tree was decorated in the school colours and the second, sustainably decorated. We hope everyone has enjoyed seeing them at assemblies and other festive events.
The BHSA put on another fabulous wreath-making event at Senior School - so successful is this event that the BHSA doubled capacity and it still sold out! All foliage is sustainably sourced by florist @theoandgilbert_flowers who leads the group with a step-by-step guide of how to make a wreath with a wide variety of branches - firs, olive, eucalyptus, bay, rosemary, ivy; plus lots of lovely materials like tiny bells, led lights, dried fruits, butterflies, baubles, cones, seed-heads and yards and yards of all sorts of ribbons.
Thanks too, to our very talented Senior School artists whose works were used to produce Blackheath High’s range of beautiful Christmas cards this year. Well done to all our arty contributors – Alina, Annabel, Ava, Elizabeth, Emily, Gracie and Umida – for some unique cards. We love them!
And of course, a final huge thanks to our BHSA Chair, Natalie Sensier Renaud, and the many seen and unseen volunteers who make BHSA events like this happen; thank you to you for giving up your time to support the BHSA.
