On Thursday 11th May, the U14 Rounders team hosted St Dunstan’s College at the Sports Field for the first fixture of the Rounders season. The ‘A’ team started off a little rusty and the score was only 2½ to 3 after the first innings. Our fielding was looking good but our hitting was letting us down. In the second innings, we scored more but despite our best efforts, our opponents scored 8 rounders to our 7 ½.

The ‘B’ team, however, came out fighting and scored highly in the first innings. Although, we managed to keep the opposition to 5 ½ rounders in the first innings, they scored an additional 8 in the second innings. Fortunately, we recorded a win with the final score being 14 to 13 ½ rounders.

The games were close and both teams demonstrated good batting and scored at crucial moments. It was a great start to the season and encouraging to see (as always), all the girls putting in maximum effort, especially Esther and Shona, our Players of the Match. Well done!
