Three weeks ago, our Painted Lady butterfly caterpillars arrived at Blackheath High School.

They did not move much in the first few days as they were preparing to moult their skin, however, they soon started eating and became chrysalides. We moved these chrysalides to the butterfly habitat and watched them emerge this week. They were lucky enough to be fed orange, plum and banana, and after observing them we set them free outside of the school.
