“The First of a New Genus: Travels in the Footsteps of Mary Wollstonecraft” was the title of this week’s Wollstonecraft lecture, delivered by author, Bee Rowlett who was supported by artist, Louisa Albani.
Louisa’s works have been exhibited at the Keats-Shelley House in Rome, St Pancras Old Church and Keats House Museum in London, and at the Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution in Bath. It was therefore a great honour for us to host a pop-up exhibition of Louisa’s artworks which are based on Wollstonecraft’s writing and travels.
Bee delivered a challenging and engaging lecture, referencing her biography “In search of Mary” which recounts how she went to Norway in the footsteps of Mary Wollstonecraft. Bee took us from Norway to revolutionary Paris via 18th century London, sharing her respect and admiration for Wollstonecraft’s extraordinary life and legacy.
