Blackheath High School was a hive of activity as Directors of Sports from across the GDST family of schools enjoyed a packed day of workshops and sessions at the annual GDST Sports Matter conference.
Staff shared expertise and ideas on getting girls active, having fun, and enjoying sport and activity at the very highest levels. The day included sessions on topics such as ‘Mentoring elite athletes in a school context’, netball coaching with Amanda Newton (former England captain and Blackheath High School PE teacher) and a cricket skills workshop with Lydia Greenway (England cricketer).
Mrs Chandler-Thompson, Head of Blackheath High School and Sport Matters Chair, said: “Sports Matters is an opportunity to network and share ideas but it is also about celebrating everything that we are achieving as the GDST sporting family. We are incredibly lucky to be able to provide such amazing opportunities for our girls to play great sport and we look forward to continuing to drive excellence in our provision across the GDST.”
