Back to Jurassic times for Reception

The annual ski trip this year was to the very glamorous Crans-Montana in Switzerland. Although meeting at the ungodly hour of 2am on Saturday morning was tiring, this meant we were actually in the resort comfortably by midday and had the afternoon to orientate ourselves, get ski-kit and money sorted out ready for a full day’s skiing on the Sunday.
With the weather sunny and dry, it was perfect conditions to get out on the slopes and the views from up the mountain were spectacular – the panorama at the top meant we could see right from Mont Blanc round to the Matterhorn. Over the next few days we also saw a few celebs including Holly Willoughby and Peter Jones of Dragons’ Den fame.
Mr Masters noted that the students were exemplary and were an example to the other schools staying in the hotel.
When asked for feedback, amongst the comments were:
“I enjoyed everything! The skiing, the social activities in the evening and the fact we were given responsibility to do some things on our own – can I go next year?!”
“Although I struggled with the skiing on the first day I soon began to enjoy it and made good progress by the end of the week. It was a rollercoaster, but one that I loved!”
“The ski instructor was really good and helped us all to improve, regardless of what standard we were. By the Wednesday I had gone down my first black run!”
“The evenings were fun, we had activities such as badminton or table tennis and even a visit to an outdoor thermal baths with lazy rivers, bubble massages and outdoor jacuzzis. It was perfect after a hard day’s skiing”.
“We had a really good laugh with people crashing and falling over, but learning something along the way. We even did some racing in the snow park and on the last day did some jumps – that didn’t end well, but was great fun anyway!”
We returned to BHS by Saturday noon, very tired (and some of us battered from many falls), but having learnt loads and experienced a beautiful resort, great conditions and many laughs.
