As part of Trips Day, Year 9 spent a sunny Friday in the lovely Whitstable. The aim of the day was to support the girls' understanding of coastal processes by studying them first-hand and to see the impact of coastal management on a busy tourist town.
Studying 'place' has moved to the forefront of the Geography curriculum, especially regarding new specifications at GCSE and A-level, and at Blackheath High, we believe it is important to embed some of these concepts at Key Stage 3. The students had great fun exploring Whitstable independently to gather evidence to answer the question, 'What makes Whitstable, Whitstable?'
A special thank you to Miss Reed, Miss Retallack and Mr Crozier for accompanying the girls on the trip.
