Winter Sports Day
Our inaugural Winter Sports Day took place last week at our sports campus and enabled students to showcase the progress and many achievements of the Autumn and Spring term events across netball, football, hockey and orienteering. It was a really lovely House event! With top performances from our Paragon athletes, they wiped the board clean and took home the overall win!
Greenwich cross-country
A group of our talented cross-country runners took part in the Year 7 London Schools Borough Cross Country Championships in early March and we are delighted to say that they put in a superb performance. Their finishing positions are below - a massive well done to all the girls.
Maddie - 4th in London and 1st in borough
Harriet - 7th in London and 2nd in borough
Hattie - 24th in London and 6th in borough
GCSE PE / Climbing
Our GCSE PE students had a very successful two-day event at the Crawley K2 venue, with students achieving high grades for their GCSE PE practical.
Year 12 & 13 Sixth Form Games
Last Autumn our Sixth Formers enjoyed a number of crisp early mornings kayaking at Danson Park Watersports centre. This term they moved on to endurance and strength & conditioning with spin and gym classes at the Eltham Centre.
Football
This Spring term we have had a number of high-paced football fixtures with the annual GDST Bromley Rally (which included both Year 8 footballers and Year 11-13 netballers), fixtures with Farringtons School (Year 9) and also Colfe’s School in a competitive Year 7 match.
Netball
Our Year 6 & 8 netballers enjoyed a fantastic few days on the annual Condover Hall netball trip. The girls were full of energy, playing their matches with determination and resilience, trying out new positions and developing their teamwork. As well as a jam-packed tournament itinerary, in the evenings the girls had the opportunity to explore the grounds and take part in some fun activities such as laser conquest, abseiling, climbing, grid of stones, and tunnelling.
For our Year 6s, one match finished in a resounding 15-0 victory, which took them to the Cup tournament. Our Year 8s scored some great goals, with fantastic commitment to the game. On day two, they had placed 4th in their group and secured a spot in the Cup tournament.
On the third and final day Year 6 (A) had two matches in their 'Plate' group, winning one and narrowly losing the other. Although they didn’t secure both victories, they were pleased to finish with a well-earned win. Year 6B faced tough competition in their 'Cup' group, playing three challenging matches. Despite not coming away with a win, they should be incredibly proud of their hard work and impressive performances across the weekend.
Year 8 (A) had a similar experience to Year 6 (A), putting in great effort across their matches but just falling short of a win. Their determination and resilience were clear to see. Year 8 (B), like Year 6 (B), played some incredibly close games, with some matches decided by just a single goal.
No trophies this time, but students played fantastically well and their teamwork and commitment were outstanding. We were so proud of the girls for their effort, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm throughout the weekend.
Other netball fixtures:
Year 5 A & B Netball teams took part in the Bromley High tournament. Both played with great determination, teamwork, and communication, skills improved across the day, and they showed excellent sportsmanship. Congratulations to the A team for finishing second in the plate tournament—what a fantastic achievement! Players of the Match were Amiah-Rae, Grace, and Bea
Year 5 Netballers were out again at a Netball tournament at Farringtons School. They displayed fantastic sportsmanship throughout, and a special mention to Florence and Cara in Year 4 who played for the Year 5 girls – great work girls.
Hockey
Year 6 Hockey vs Colfe’s was an exciting match with plenty of attacking play. The girls created lots of scoring opportunities but just couldn’t find the final touch. The games were full of energy and determination, with final scores of 2-0 and 6-0. Great effort, team!
