High School Musical - Review

This year’s highly anticipated Senior School production, ‘High School Musical’, was yet another spectacular triumph from our fantastic Drama department. Bursting with energy, the show moved at an incredible pace, shifting from one dazzling musical showcase to next seemingly effortlessly thanks to the incredibly talented cast and crew.

We were also delighted to welcome back alumna Sophia Gilson (Class of 2024), who left Blackheath High to take up a highly sought after place at Trinity Laban studying Musical Theatre. Having played the lead role in previous Blackheath High School productions and with a glittering drama career beckoning, we asked Sophia for her review of High School Musical.

Thanks to everyone for such a wonderful show – and to Sophia for her critical review

I loved returning to Blackheath High to watch this year’s ‘High School Musical’ production. The show was outstanding and Ms Coles’ direction really shone. The leads delivered stunning performances with incredible vocals from both the leads and ensemble. The choreography also really stood out - every number was such a joy to watch, with the cast’s enthusiasm lighting up the stage. The performance was bursting with energy from everyone and I especially loved the amazing solo dance break moments from the dance captains. The show was very moving and was breathtaking to watch. I know how much dedication must have gone into producing a show of this calibre.

It was a such a privilege to come back to watch this production and I totally appreciated the bond between the students on stage. It felt magical seeing everyone's hard work pay off. Watching the talent in this show was really uplifting and brought back happy and special memories of the school show being my favourite part of the year.”
