World Book Week is always a wonderful celebration of storytelling, imagination, and creativity. It’s a joy to see our students - yes, even at Seniors! - fully embrace the fun of our much-loved Character Parade. A huge thank you to our incredible librarians and teachers for curating an inspiring week filled with engaging activities and exciting author visits. Here are just a few highlights and snapshots from this year’s celebrations.
Junior School pupils enjoyed a host of activities for World Book Week 2025 including Dress Up Day, Book Swap, Buddy Groups and the Big Freeze Competition. Plus, they have been extremely lucky to enjoy visits from three award-winning authors! A massive thank you to Helen Dennis (author of the ‘Secret Breakers’ series and ‘River of Ink’ series’), Teresa Heapy (‘The Marvellous Moon Map’ and ‘The Spectacular City’) and Karen McCombie of the highly acclaimed 'Ally's World' series, with latest books including ‘World of Wanda’.
Our Junior Library Prefects also took on the challenge of organising our annual Book Week Library Competition. This year’s theme was The Big Freeze, with pupils and staff invited to submit a freeze frame photo of a scene from their favourite book. See our gallery below for some of the submissions.
At Senior School, we had a similarly colourful and energetic week with Guess Who Charades, Decorate the Gingerbread Man, Quick Draw, Big Book Quiz, the Big Character Dress Up. We were also delighted to welcome Shani Akilah, screenwriter and author of ‘For Such a Time’, her debut short story collection. Shani talked to students about her debut short-story collection, her beginnings as an author, her inspiration and mentors.
