Spotlight: Our Year 12 Music Scholar, Carlotta
My name is Carlotta and I am an A-level student and Music Scholar in Year 12 at Blackheath High School, studying Music, English Literature and Spanish. I am a post grade 8 pianist and also play the guitar for fun. I have been at Blackheath High since Year 7 and have come so far in my passion for music, with so many amazing music opportunities here that are truly unique. And as a Music Scholar, I feel that I am able to give something back to the school in a way that truly matters to me.
I have taken part in many music events at school over the years, including a variety of concerts, playing piano for most school open days, and events such as our House Music Competition. Most recently I performed in our Scholar’s Concert (some photos from which you can see in the gallery below). As a Music Prefect I feel honoured to share the experiences I have had so far with the Music department and represent Music at Blackheath High. In March I am looking forward to performing in the GDST Concerto Competition – the three finalists will perform at the Fairfield Halls with the London Mozart Players, which will be incredible.
After Sixth Form I am looking to apply for a music conservatoire. I feel extremely supported by the school and I believe that the enthusiasm of the Music department has strongly contributed to my confidence in performing.
As well as my passion for Music at Blackheath High, I am really enjoying my Spanish studies and becoming more fluent in Spanish, which will aid me in communicating with more people and growing a wider network. It also opens up the possibility of me studying and working abroad, which would definitely be beneficial to my future career in music. I believe that music is a language which unites people from a vast variety of backgrounds.
I feel grateful to be a part of the Blackheath High community and am really looking forward to all the opportunities that are yet to come.
