Enrichment & Communities

The community at Blackheath High is very special. We always look for ways to celebrate and support our girls, staff, families, alumnae and the wider community – whether that is sharing cultural events, championing each other or enriching our lives with our partnerships, enrichment and outreach programmes.

Over the last half term we have hosted afternoon teas with our elders from the community, provided home cooked meals for the Lewisham Food Bank and had the latest in our education Enrichment Days. Collectively - in our assemblies - and to mark key dates in the calendar we have also explored and celebrated events including Anti-Bullying Day, Harvest Festival, Remembrance Day, Diwali, Hanukkah and Children in Need.

A warm welcome to residents of Rectory Court and Leah Lodge

As part of our Enrichment Programme, which aims to build and maintain links with our local community, we were delighted to host another afternoon tea for residents of both Rectory Court and Leah Lodge care homes in Blackheath. Our Year 11 students served tea and cakes in our Centenary Room at Senior School, while a group of our girls went to visit other residents at their home on The Glebe and Blessington Road. Pulling out an array of board games, chess and the tumbling towers of Jenga, as well as talking about politics, news and the wider world, our visitors and students enjoyed a lovely time together.

Cooking up a delicious meal for Lewisham Food Bank

In their first Enrichment session cooking for the Lewisham Food Bank, a group of Year 11 students were amazing in preparing, cooking, labelling and packaging 65 meals for the food bank, a vital resource in our borough. According to Miss Wood, our quality control taste-tester, the team made a delicious vegetarian pasta dish and were absolute heroes with their upbeat attitude and teamwork. Miss Wood was extremely proud of them!
