Despite the unpredictable weather, it has been great to kick off our Summer sports programme. Here are a few of the highlights across Junior and Senior School.
EYFS Sports Day
The final scores were:
We hope you all enjoyed the event and look forward to seeing you next year!
Cricket
Summer is cricket season and our girls have enjoyed some wonderful afternoon matches this half term – including the Year 5 & 6 match at Royal Russell Sport.
Football
Our U12 A&B squads had a brilliant afternoon of football hosted by Colfe's, with our As winning the second tier competition. Player of the Match for Bs was Charlotte and for As it was Libby, who scored an incredible 10 goals! Special mention to excellent captaincy and leadership from Adri who came to the pitch with a full game plan.
Athletics / Track & Field
Year 3 took part in Quad Athletics at Bromley High School - a great afternoon spent in the sunshine.
We also had an absolutely brilliant team performance at the Track & Field Cup! A fantastic day of personal bests, great performances and sunshine – with team spirit in abundance.
Swimming
Thirteen of our Year 5 and Year 6 girls participated in their very first biathlon against Croydon High School. The competition consisted of a 50m swim followed by a 600m run. Everyone showcased impressive athletic skills. While there were some interesting techniques for putting on shoes and tops after jumping out of the pool, the day started with nervous anticipation and ended with excitement.
We had a great swimming match against Colfe’s for the U15 and U13 squads. Some fantastic performances and lots of fun.
Dance
Our Junior School girls proudly celebrated International Day of Dance this month with some impromptu flash mob dancing all around school. Thank you to Ms Greig, who did a brilliant job choreographing and organising. You can catch a glimpse of the dance flash mob at the Junior School playground on Twitter.
Junior School Sports fundraising
Thank you to everyone who came to support our Year 6 Sports Prefects during the Summer Fair. If you didn’t already know, we are fundraising for Dry Robes to be worn during winter fixtures, making it warmer for substitutes who are on the side-lines. We are proud to announce that we surpassed our £120 target, raising £405 and we will now be able to buy 4 Dry Robes.
Senior School Sports Scholars nutrition talk
Our Sports Scholars had an insightful talk from Maggie from the Unique Health Clinic on sports nutrition and fuelling in their sports, with much important information to take away on how to fuel for optimum performance and recovery.
Well done to all those competing this half term!
