As a school in Greenwich, we are passionate about being at the heart of our local community. Our staff and students have forged excellent relationships with a number of community organisations to the extent that we provide and take part in a wide range of outreach projects.
We have a number of programmes with local maintained schools – the DT department offer staff training to a wide range of local secondary schools, the Maths department provide a range of challenging Maths activities for local children in Year 5 and Year 7, and the PE department organise a Sports Tournament for our own Year 4 as well as students from local primary schools, to name but a few.
Our Sixth Form have really enjoyed taking part in the Shine ‘Serious Fun on Saturday’ programme, mentoring children from local primary schools in a range of activities from First Aid to percussion. This involved our girls giving up a series of Saturday mornings and really getting to know the students and their strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately developing their confidence in themselves and their abilities. We don’t only work with local schools, the Digital Leaders have visited residents of Morden College to support them in using digital devices and a group of Year 10 and 11 students recently visited the Riverlee Residential and Nursing Home in Greenwich to receive training to become Dementia Friends and will spread the message of Dementia Friendship to their own friends and family.
