In late September, our Head Student Team were invited to attend the Inspiring Females Conference at Benenden School, an event designed to energise aspirational students from across the globe with a range of thought-provoking and impactful talks from women who are leaders in their field.
The event included a keynote speech from Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal of Jordan, who shared lessons learned from a life devoted to improving the lives of marginalised and vulnerable groups throughout Jordan; and a speech by HRH The Princess Royal, who shared her perspective on leadership, discussing life in the public eye and some of the impressive female leaders she has encountered over the years.
Head Student Alisha shares her thoughts on the inspiring speaker Dr Amy Jadesimi:
Hearing Dr Amy Jadesimi talk about her role as Managing Director for LADOL, a company which helps to drive industrial development in Nigeria, was incredibly inspiring to me. I have always been incredibly interested in the impacts of sustained industrial development in developing countries and it was very insightful to hear how this development can be stimulated through a highly skilled and knowledge leader. She taught me the importance of not being worried to explore different routes, through her own example of going from Medicine, to investment banking, to leading development in Nigeria; as it can allow one to gain a multi-faceted range of skills, which can equip you to excel and be creative when faced with the obstacle of solving problems.
