Back to Jurassic times for Reception

It seems incredible that it has only been two weeks since half term, as the girls have been so busy since their return. At Seniors, with the year 11 girls looking to soon complete their secondary school education, we have been particularly focussed on examinations - with the public examination in full flow, and our own internal examinations. It has been good to see the purposeful, calm approach of the girls and I have no doubt they will continue to take it all in their stride, with the support of their teachers.
At Juniors, we have been focussed on sport, with our three Sports Days successfully held last week, despite the best efforts of some unseasonable rain. Miss V White, Miss A Newton, Miss H Morrell and the entire team, organised great events and it was a real pleasure to see the girls pushing outside their comfort zone and working so well in teams. As ever, we received wonderful support from families on the day, so thank you for your enthusiasm and support of the girls.
This week, our Junior Chamber Choir had the honour of performing at the annual GDST reception, as winners of the national finals. The reception is attended by Heads and guests of all 26 GDST schools, as well as some very eminent VIP guests, so an impressive audience. The girls did us proud with a performance full of joie de vivre and musical talent.
It has been a momentous fortnight nationally too, and the proximity of the recent terrorist attack at London Bridge was brought home when I talked with a fellow Head at a recent GSA meeting, who had three girls caught up in and injured during the attack on a teenage night out. Of course, we will continue to help the girls to make sense of, and contextualise events. At the same time, we remain unswerving in our commitment to espouse the values of open-mindedness, internationalism, kindness and generosity in our wonderfully diverse and warm community.
I look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks at some lovely end of year events.
