On a beautiful sunny evening in June, the annual Blackheath High Art Exhibition took place, showcasing the final artworks of our incredibly talented GCSE Art and A-level Art + Textiles students to proud parents, school visitors, alumnae and other guests, including some of inspired Junior School girls and the wider community.
The bespoke display in our Wollstonecraft Room, expertly curated by our Art & Textiles departments, created an immersive experience which included a range of impressive acrylic paintings by GCSE students depicting the theme ‘decay + dereliction’; along with individual exam pieces in response to the set title ‘Lock’. Each student had also produced a textiles garment with screen printed features and created a sculpture that explores the properties of either wood or plaster.
Our A-level Art and Textiles students exhibited unique bodies of work, ranging from complete fashion collections to large-scale painting, plaster sculpture, mixed media work and installations.
The body of work was stunning, and guests were wowed by the sheer talent and raw energy of the works on display. We look forward to following the careers of these up and coming artists.
