As a finale to their last year of Junior School our Year 6s got to enjoy a fantastic trip en France, with an action-packed itinerary.
The trip started – naturally! - with a spot of food and then upon arrival settling in before heading for a ‘seal-iously’ fun day at Nausicaá, the biggest aquarium in Europe. A new day and new adventure as the group breakfasted on croissants, followed by a trip to the markets where there were crepes and fresh fruit aplenty! A great shopping experience for our - by now - almost fluent pupils!
The weather was fabulous and Year 6 felt truly spoilt as the driver picked the best place to eat lunch and to have an impromptu beach day at Le Touquet-Paris-Plage. The theme of French treats continued with a very informative (tasty!) afternoon at the Chocolate Factory, with Volleyball & traditional French Pétanque in the evening.
After a peaceful night’s sleep, the travellers immersed themselves in some history – the history of WW1 – exploring the Somme Battlefields, marvelling at the Albert Museum and standing in awe at The Lochnagar Crater. The girls were very moved and reflective after visiting such historical locations, moments that will leave an indelible mark.
Day 4 was wrapped up with an exclusive VIP tour of charming Rue, led by our knowledgeable Manor Adventure guides. This small town is bursting with history and stories waiting to be uncovered - an enriching experience!
This immersive trip to France wouldn’t have been complete without exploring the true flavours of France! Some of our more brave and adventurous Year 6s got stuck in as snails and frog legs took the spotlight on their dinner menu! Go girls – #fearless. Intertwined with the many cultural insights into life in France, our Year 6s were treated to: campfires – with stories, games and of course, marshmallows; the excitement of a local family-run sweet shop (Joie De La Confiserie, Le Succès Berckois); and fun times in the sun and the sand at the Berck Sur Mer (with treasure digging frenzies!)
Of course, the Year 6 2023 school journey would not be complete without a send-off party and to top off an absolutely fabulous time, the girls battled it out in dance-offs – fun times!
The trip concluded with many unforgettable memories of embracing French culture, cuisine and traditions. What a week!
Thanks to all for an amazing experience and to our hosts Manor Adventure.
