Blackheath High School is founded on the principle of ensuring that every girl leaves as a confident, ambitious individual with her eye set firmly on the future. We have a fantastic careers programme, spearheaded by our Head of Futures Ms Day, which offers a huge range of opportunities to students, from expert advisors and interview experience to internships, as well as bespoke workshops, careers talks and much more. This work starts at Junior School with our Mighty Girls Challenge programme, which is based on building the core skills that the World Economic Forum predicts will be central to the workplace of the future, and weaves through the school all the way to Year 13 leavers.
The GDST has recently rolled out a remarkable resource to support students as they consider their future careers – dubbed ‘radical mentoring’, the Rungway app is a forum where students can ask questions about their chosen field of study, get advice and even find a mentor. Every GDST leaver is automatically invited to join the network – then they simply download the app, post a question and the growing pool of contributors, from over 70,000 alumnae to former parents and staff, is able to support and guide using their own knowledge and experience.
We’ve provided information on Rungway to all our Year 13 leavers, and it is also accessible to Sixth Formers for ongoing careers advice, EPQ support and much more. As a parent, if you’d like to get involved and offer your expertise on the Rungway app to support students, please get in touch with our Alumnae Manager.
