Year 3 Curate for the Day at the Old Royal Naval College

Year 7 students have been learning about separating mixtures in Chemistry. The girls are studying evaporation, filtration, chromatography and distillation – in these photos, you can see them examining copper sulphate crystals after using evaporation techniques.
What a fascinating, hands-on day for our Year 13 Biology students who recently visited Wakehurst labs at Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew for their biotechnology practicals. As part of their lab work they were undertaking cloning by micropropagation, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and gel electrophoresis. With an insight into the Wakehurst living laboratory, the students got to experience world-class science and expert conservation in action.
