For this year’s Junior Art exhibition 'East', the whole school focussed on Asia and its culture as inspiration for its artwork. India influenced stunning collage elephants in our Nursery, Year 5's printed carpet designs, Year 4’s embroidered block printing and Year 3’s delicate clay slippers. While China and Japan’s carp images inspired Year 1 to produce decorative paper parasols, Reception to make Koinoburo flags and Year 2 to make beautiful pearlescent clay fish. Year 6 used the idea of Indonesian butterflies to complete Batik designs. There was a huge range of different techniques in a variety of media on display.
The three-day exhibition opened on Tuesday 16th May with songs from our Junior Chamber Choir, and was a resounding success with visitors before and after school. We were all extremely proud of the girls and how much effort everyone had contributed to make this a colourful and thought-provoking exhibition.
