As is always the case, the Summer Term is whizzing by as exam season reaches full swing at Seniors and we start thinking about Sports Day and the other joys of the upcoming second half of the term.
Reception girls have been excitedly reporting the status of the butterflies set to emerge from their chrysalises as they learn about ‘minibeasts’ this half term. Throughout the Junior School our love of reading has been celebrated by the residence of the travelling library – thank you to all of the parents who supported this venture.
At Seniors we have had many trips, as you will no doubt read throughout this edition, and I particularly enjoyed our student write-up of Year 9’s trip to Whitstable.
Last night we held our second ever alumnae reception at the Senior School and it was wonderful to see former students from 1951 – 2021: a whole 70 years of Blackheath High School history! Thank you to the students who took part in the evening’s wonderful musical performances, which we all – as ever – enjoyed hugely.
Finally, following the email you will have received from Cheryl Giovannoni, I am sure you will join me in congratulating Mrs Argile on her appointment as Interim Head following my departure come the end of the year. I know she will do a fantastic job and she has the complete support of the SLT. Steven Henderson will be stepping up as the Senior Deputy Head and as a next step, we will also be looking to increase capacity within SLT to further support during this time.
As you will know, Blackheath High is in a very strong position with our leadership team: they have already given a huge amount to the school; are committed; extremely hard working and talented. I feel very confident the school will be in safe hands and I know you will also give them your support in guiding the school through this next phase.
