Welcome everyone to the Summer Term here at Blackheath High. The school calendar may be packed and exam season upon us, but the longer days and (slowly) warming weather add a spring to everyone’s step!
Many of your daughters were off to a racing start to term with the mini-marathon on the Heath. Well done to all of the runners, and hats off to Paragon who came out as the triumphant house.
In another example of how we make the most of our scenic surrounds and warm community, Senior School musicians and Rock Band performed live at Up The Creek in Greenwich town centre earlier this week. With an impressive set-list, the girls really enjoyed performing in a ‘real world’ setting and the evening was much enjoyed by those in the audience.
Many Junior School parents have enjoyed the impressive Junior School Art Exhibition in the Hall this week (last day is today – so do pop by after school for a browse and perhaps a little glass of something to ring in the weekend). With an overarching theme of ‘Celebration’ and topics ranging from Koinibori Kites to Día de Muertos, and a piece exhibited by every single student, there is a great deal on display to enjoy.
For those readers that are past pupils or staff, please do register for the Alumnae Garden Party coming up on Thursday 26th May, we are hoping to see as many of you here as possible.
And finally a thank you to all Year 1 and 2 parents who attended our ‘Into KS2’ evening on the 3rd May. It was a great pleasure to invite you all to the Senior School and I am sure you will agree that our guest speaker, Sarah Ockwell-Smith gave an excellent talk. Following your feedback we are planning to make this event a regular feature in the school calendar.
