It’s the end of an era for our current Year 13 students and whilst it is always a shame to see them leave, I feel more sad than usual this year.
I can remember teaching many of them five years ago when they were in Year 8 and watching them this morning as Mrs Beecham recounted their many achievements and amazing qualities, I felt immensely proud of them all. Not only were their exams taken away from them but they missed out on many of the usual experiences they would have encountered in the Sixth Form. Having said that, they embraced the challenge of Guided Home Learning with great gusto and showed resilience at a level far beyond their years; often with a smile on their face. Finding new ways to attend events, learn via Teams and lead on various initiatives were taken in their stride and whilst it has not been the easiest of rides for them, they are buzzing around school today with excitement, pride, deep friendships and an amazing future ahead of them.
We are so proud.
