From flags to flowers, landmarks to legends, Year 1 girls have shown great enthusiasm in exploring this term's Creative Curriculum topic, 'The UK'.
The challenge was to spend a week focusing on each country of the UK. In Scotland, we described the Loch Ness Monster, listened to bagpipes, learned about Miss Robertson's family tartan and read about the Highland Games. Heading to Wales, we explored Welsh traditional dress and the legend behind the famous red dragon on the flag. The Giant's Causeway and its legend formed a basis for drama and writing comic strips exploring Northern Ireland; while Robin Hood and his fierce archers inspired us in England.
