As we head into half term, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all the girls and parents for supporting our major Open Morning on Saturday. With over 500 families visiting the the Junior and Senior Schools, it was a very buzzy, and busy morning. Both sites were looking wonderful and it was a real privilege to share everything the girls are achieving, with the support of you, and their teachers. Thank you to families who rearranged Saturday commitments or transported girls into school; it makes such a difference to have all the girls here as ambassadors.
I have to say, whole school photographs is one of those occasions that I dread as a Headteacher. The logistics of hoping for good weather, walking the whole school off-site (from 3-year olds to 18-year olds) and standing them on a scaffold and hoping everyone will stand still and smile at the same time is the stuff of nightmares for me. What a pleasant surprise therefore, to find it was actually a very enjoyable morning! It was a fabulous team effort from every member of staff and all the girls were an absolute joy to spend time with. There was a real sense of community and I enjoyed reminiscing with the current Year 13, many of whom have a version of the photo at home, when they were in nursery, aged 3. Even Florence the school dog, exercised her canine patience and looked the right way at the right moment! I actually felt incredibly proud of everyone (Florence included).
It just goes to show, sometimes the things you dread the most, bring you most the most pleasure. I hope you enjoy the photo when it comes and the girls will treasure the memories of belonging to a very special Blackheath High School community for many years to come.
Do enjoy half term, best of luck to girls in Sixth Form's Year 13 sitting university entrance tests and I look forward to seeing you all again in November.
