Year 3 Curate for the Day at the Old Royal Naval College

For the last four years, Blackheath High School students have been representing Greenwich in the London Youth Games.

They worked very hard to be selected into the squad and have been training all year. Their goal was to reach the top 10 out of the 33 Boroughs. In previous years they have come further down and have improved on each attempt, reaching 15th last year.
We arrived geared up and ready to compete on what must have been one of the hottest days of the year. They had a tough pool to get through but managed to come third, which meant they still had one chance to reach the top eight in a playoff and go though to finals day. In their play-off the score was 1-0, but then in the dying seconds of the game an equaliser was scored sending us to penalties. Unfortunately, the girls lost on penalties, which was devastating for them but they picked themselves up and went on to win the game that placed them ninth.
This is a huge achievement for the girls and meant they still reached their goal of reaching the top 10. Well done to all the girls that took part.
