My name is Marley Reeves and I am a Year 9 Sports scholar at Blackheath High School. 

I joined Blackheath High in nursery and have enjoyed every year. Being a Sports scholar gives me so many opportunities to reach my goals. Every week we have a special strength & conditioning session with Miss Morrell, the Director of Sport at Senior School. We also have an annual sports award at the end of the academic year, and last year I was awarded athletics player of the season. 

Triathlon is my main sport, which I do with the Greenwich Tritons, and I also take part in running and swimming events, as well as netball as part of the Beacons Netball squad. I compete in many running, triathlon, swimming and netball competitions. I have also entered national standard races including Inter Regional Championships for British triathlon, which I have done twice - coming 9th and 20th in two different age groups; and I am hoping to make the London team again this year. I ran the National X-Country finals last March, and am really happy to have made the team this year as well. In October I entered the London Youth Games for X-Country and I came 4th in the U15 age category. I am also aiming to be selected for the London Academy for triathlon at the end of the year. At Beacons netball squad we have weekly training sessions and monthly matches in a netball league. 

When I participated in the super series aquathon, I got the chance to watch the race as well as meet many famous triathletes including Alex Yee, Beth Potter, and Georgia Taylor-Brown which was a real honour.

Blackheath High School is such an amazing place for sport; and as we are part of the GDST network we have lots of tournaments for many different sports and we have just attended a GDST swim gala. There is also an annual Sports Scholar Day where we get to meet scholars from all over the GDST network, meet inspirational female athletes and attend lectures.  

Even just within Blackheath we take part in many tournaments and trips like our netball tour to Disneyland this April. I also attended the GDST netball tournament at Condover Hall for Years 6 & 8.
