About the role

Blackheath High School has an excellent opportunity for an organised individual with excellent time management and administrative skills to play a key role as Cover Supervisor.

The primary responsibility of the Cover Supervisor is to provide effective supervision of pupil lessons when teachers are absent. This includes managing registration, distributing set work, and assisting pupils with their tasks.

We are seeking candidates with a good standard of education, particularly in English and Mathematics, along with previous experience in a school environment or in roles working with young people. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to manage a classroom effectively. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, able to work well under pressure, and have a genuine interest in the educational development of young people.

About the School

Founded in 1880 by the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools, Blackheath High School is a selective school for girls aged 3–18.  We are fortunate to be located on the edge of the stunning Heath and within easy reach of historic Greenwich and Canary Wharf. Following an £18 million investment, our new Senior School opened in 2019, and has been provided with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure that our school environment matches the excellent standard of education we provide.

There are many good reasons to work with us. Blackheath High School has a real sense of community, and you’ll be part of it. You’ll be part, too, of the wider GDST family and you’ll be in the company of some of the best and brightest people in independent education.

For the online application form, please visit www.gdst.net or for further details please contact Sharon Read at s.read@bla.gdst.net

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 28 June 2024.

The GDST is committed to diversity, inclusion and real change: a family where every individual is valued, respected and included.

Blackheath High School and the GDST are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including online searches, and checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
